Deputy Principal Yan Jigui and Vice Director Zhang Shoubing of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office were invited to attend the 2023 Annual Work Conference of the Singapore Asian Nursing Scholarship (also known as ¡°ANS¡±) Programme, hosted by the Singapore Ministry of Health and its subsidiary, Ministry of Health Holdings (MOHH). The conference aimed to discuss the progress and future plans of the scholarship programme.

Representatives from various organizations attended the conference, including officials from the Singapore Ministry of Health and its subsidiary, Ministry of Health Holdings (MOHH), Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, Ministry of Education of China, Chinese Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), and representatives from eight participating institutions across China.

During their stay in Singapore, Mr. Yan Jigui and Mr. Zhang Shoubing visited Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic. They also had the opportunity to meet and interact with a group of ANS scholarship students from Anhui Medical College who are currently studying at the two polytechnics.

In a cordial discussion, Deputy Principal Yan Jigui inquired about the students' academic progress and living conditions, showing genuine concern for their growth and development in Singapore. He encouraged the students to be self-reliant, confident, diligent in their studies, and warmly welcomed them to visit Anhui Medical College whenever possible.

Since the participation of the Singapore ANS Programme in 2006, Anhui Medical College has sent nearly 220 students to study at Nanyang Polytechnic and Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Upon graduation, these students have taken up positions as registered nurses in the three major healthcare clusters in Singapore, namely the National University Health System (NUHS), Singhealth, and the National Health Group (NHG), working in public hospitals affiliated with these institutions.

According to the work arrangement between China and Singapore, Anhui Medical College has been designated as one of the three centralised examination centres for the scholarship selection examination in 2023. Anhui Medical College will continue to assist the recruitment and selection of scholarship recipients, as well as facilitating their deployment to Singapore.
