New Batch of ANS Recipient Students from AMC Arrives in Singapore

Date:2023-01-11click:

12 AMC students arrive at Changi airport early this January and commerce their student life abroad. They will take a 3-month English bridging course before starting their Nursing programme in Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) in April.

As freshmen, they submitted their ANS applications last September and after weeks of preparation, they successfully passed the virtual English interview organized by MOHH of Singapore, becoming recipients of the Asian Nursing Scholarship.

Established by the Ministry of Health (Singapore) in 1994, the Asian Nursing Scholarship sponsors around 200 ASEAN students annually to pursue nursing diploma or degree studies in Singapore. Upon completion, these nurses are required to serve a bond (usually 6 years) before returning to their homeland, with the hope that some would remain in Singapore to supplement the local nursing workforce. The programme is popular due to Singapore's reputation for providing world-class patient care.

AMC took part in the ANS programme in 2006, and approximately 220 AMC students have since been awarded the scholarship to study and work in Singapore.
